Alinea Psychologies - a London practice moves off WordPress onto a site it runs itself.

Alinea Psychologies is Dr Catherine Barnes's psychology practice in London. It offers psychotherapy and psychological assessments for adults, children, young people and families, online and in person.

The practice came to us with one problem: the contact form on its WordPress site could not be submitted. The subject field was validating as an email address, so every enquiry ended in an error. The site was also slow, and the old page builder made every copy change a developer job.

We fixed the form as the first piece of work. Once Catherine had seen how the rebuilt homepage looked in her own brand, she made the bigger call: a full move off WordPress, with a site she could update herself and no plugin licences to renew.

A 42-page static site that reproduces her brand exactly. The fonts, palette, bird logo and photography are all hers, and every page from the old site has a home on the new one.

• -Her own editor at /admin. Catherine edits page copy, publishes blog posts and adds free resources without a developer account. Forty pages are registered in it.
• -Booking, shop and mailing list on free tools. Trafft handles consultations and clinical supervision, Payhip sells her workbooks through her own Stripe account, and MailerLite runs the mailing list. None of them carries a monthly fee.
• -A Resource Hub of free downloadable psychology resources, designed by Catherine in Canva and grouped into series. She adds new ones from the editor.
• -A blog that emails the list. When she publishes a post, one tick box sends it to every subscriber.
• -A contact form that works, plus a mailing-list invitation that appears once per visitor after eight seconds or at 40 percent scroll.

The site went live on alineapsychologies.com on 4 September 2026. Forty-eight addresses from the old WordPress site redirect to their new pages, so nothing Google had indexed was lost, and her email stayed exactly where it was.

Catherine received one handover document that covers her accounts, her editor and the routine jobs. She now changes the site herself, and the practice pays nothing for hosting, booking, the shop or the mailing list.
